We
are expanding our wonderful and unique SMArt Class © (Science, Math, Art hybrid) programs into several schools and community centers and
we need independent art / science teachers to provide their professional services and share their talents.
"Independent" implies that you have developed a professional curriculum that you can teach. Schools are located in Ventura County.
Initially, we are offering part-time consulting work to fit your schedule but we are growing and there is a lot of opportunity for work. Some classes are morning classes a few times per week, some are in our camps and some are available in the late afternoon at our studio, various school campuses and community centers in after school enrichment programs.
Our requirements may not be compared with out-of-state franchises as we are a "premium" art company. Our standards are very high and we will not compromise on quality. We emphasize art as a focus for academic achievement in all the disciplines especially the sciences. Parents get it, kids love it!
If you believe that "those that can't do, teach"; try creating your own stimulating curriculum for a 10 week program and then teach art, science, math or ceramics to a classroom of 15 or more kids - that will quickly alter your perception.
Book smart and highly educated does not equate to being a good teacher so you will understand our need to observe you in action before we share your talents.

As a professional, you provide your teaching services with energy, high integrity, high personal standards, you are reliable, dependable, have your own vehicle, and you are healthy
You have high energy (mental and physical). If you are spaced-out, drag your feet in slow motion and don't smile too often, you will not make it as a kids art teacher with us. We listen to the kids as they are your ultimate critics and they are tough!
Our belief is that you can't change a bad attitude. So, if you have ever been guilty of having a bad attitude or being called a whiner, you need not apply.

College degree with a science major is preferred. At least 1 year of teaching experience. ECE credits preferred but not required. Keen ability to scale down your science knowledge for age-appropriate presentation of the "Silly Science"© curriculum to Kinders through 6th grade at various locations in Ventura County. You will need excellent classroom management skills.
SCIENCE / ART TEACHERS: REQUIREMENTS
Art/Science
College degree (Fine Art preferred) with at least 1 year of art or science/math teaching experience to young children.
Knowledgeable in multi-disciplinary education to junior high level (math, science and nature education is a plus).
Science/Art
The other way around? A science or math grad teacher who has art teaching experience.
We know that the combination of left and right brained individuals is rare but if you are one of them, you will love this work!
ART TEACHERS FOR BABY CLASSES: REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidate will have at least 12 ECE (Early Child Education) units.
Love babies and small children and don't mind the mess.
Kindergarten or pre-school teaching experience preferred
College students or retired nursery school, preschool or kindergarten teachers.
Fun and animated personality is required to keep babies engaged.
ART TEACHERS: REQUIREMENTS
College degree in the visual arts (Fine Art preferred) with at least 2 years of art teaching experience to young children. You may be a great artist but teaching is a completely different paradigm requiring a lot of patience and a real love for what you do. Science background is a plus. Ceramics background is plus.

STUDIO / TEACHER'S ASSISTANT: REQUIREMENTS
Art teaching experience is a plus.
Easy going personality type but always keen to dive in and help prepare classes, assist the teacher during class, field trips, birthday parties and of course, cleanup afterward.
Teachers really appreciate assistants who actively take initiative to help make each class a great experience for the kids.
We teach babies as young as 18 months so you don't mind the mess of experiential art.
